Rheology of bitumen and Sustainability webinars

Nearly 120 people attended our sixth ‘open to all’ educational webinar, Understanding the rheology of bitumen, led by Eurobitume Technical Lead Dr Ian Lancaster. Earlier the same day (13th November), Eurobitume Sustainability Lead Dr Brice Delaporte presented Eurobitume’s 13th members-only educational webinar, on Sustainability.

External, ‘open to all’ webinar #6 – Understanding rheology

In the Understanding the rheology of bitumen webinar, Ian gave a brief explanation of what rheology is and said that the physical properties of bitumen, including its viscosity, elasticity, flow and deformation characteristics, are similar to those of ‘silly putty’.

He then explained the meaning of key rheological terms, such as Complex Shear Modulus, phase angle, G Prime and G Double Prime.

A video of this webinar is accessible from the Education and Training / Webinars page of the Eurobitume website, where videos of the free educational webinars previously developed and delivered by Eurobitume are also available.

Internal, Eurobitume members-only webinar #13 – The sustainability of bitumen

Following an introduction by Eurobitume HSE Lead Dr Anja Sörensen, Brice focussed upon three main elements within his presentation:

  1. Life-Cycle Assessment – and Eurobitume’s ongoing work to produce a 4th edition of its LCI report.
  2. c-PCR –  complimentary Product Category Rules
  3. Other Bitumen Sustainability Steering Group (BSSG) activities

Eurobitume will continue providing open to all and members-only educational webinars in 2025 and details of the scheduled dates will be announced in the new year.
