More news from Spring General Meeting and Seminar
As well as electing new Senior Officers and a new Board of Directors (see New President, VP, Treasurer and Board of Directors news story), Eurobitume members also elected three new Committee chairs at the Association’s recent Spring General Meeting in Prague:
- Giampaolo Fenati (Alma Petroli) took over from Véronique Ducreux (ExxonMobil) as Chair of Technical Committee, following Véronique’s much appreciated extended three-year tenure as Chair of Eurobitume’s Technical Committee.
- Annika Girod (Nynas) replaced Sergio Bovo (Alma Petroli) as Chair of the Public Relations and Communications (PRC) Committee, a role he fulfilled with distinction for the past two years.
- Olivier Maglia (TotalEnergies) is the new Chair of BSSG (Bitumen and Sustainability Steering Group). He took over from Richard Taylor (Shell), who left in Autumn 2024.
- After making an excellent contribution during her two-year tenure as HSE Committee Chair, ENI’s Giulia Pizzella stepped down. Dr Anja Sörensen remains Eurobitume HSE Lead.

Seminar
On the morning of April 3rd, Eurobitume Director General opened an interesting seminar for Eurobitume member company representatives which covered a variety of topical areas:
- Coalition of Asphalt Research on Emissions (CARE): conclusions from University California Riverside (UCR) study – jointly presented by Eurobitume Technical Lead Dr Ian Lancaster and Asphalt Institute HSE Director Paul Sohi
- Concawe: online live presentation summarising highlights of their recent research on net zero scenarios in the European refining industry – Presented by Concawe’s Abinash Ramasary, Science Executive Renewable Fuels Manufacturing
- An Interactive members’ exchange session on key questions raised by stakeholders following the launch of EB LCA Report 4.0 – Facilitated by Eurobitume Sustainability Lead Dr Brice Delaporte
- Asphalt Institute Foundation (AiF) online live presentation about their) analysis of the petroleum asphalt binder supply chain under energy transition scenarios – Presented by the Asphalt Institute’s Head of Sustainability Engineering and Research, Chait Bhat
Closing words
Eurobitume President Pavel Kriz (ExxonMobil) brought the event to a conclusion, thanked all the participants for their valuable input and contributions, thanked members for their support during the last 12 months, reminded everyone to make sure they have the 3rd E&E Event, which takes place in 11-12 June 2026 in Vienna, and wished every success to his successor….
