“Au revoir” Jean-Michel
After nine productive years on secondment to Eurobitume, on 1st October 2024 Eurobitume General Manager and focal person for France Jean-Michel Michou will return to TotalEnergies, where he will be a project manager within the Bitumen division.
“Jean-Michel has been an important member of the Eurobitume team since 2015 and has been involved in the development of the Association during these years. He has contributed significantly to the evolution of the national Association in France (GPB) to be part of the Eurobitume organisation as a local representation (LR). More recently he managed the full integration of the LR France into Eurobitume. Both of these were significant milestones in the history of the Association“ stated Eurobitume Director General Siobhan McKelvey.
Eurobitume’s new focal person for France is Brice Delaporte, who is also Eurobitume’s Sustainability Lead and started with the Association in June.
During Jean-Michel’s secondment at Eurobitume
Jean-Michel established numerous contacts with various bitumen industry stakeholders in France, including, IDRRIM, Routes de France, the Ministry of Transport (part of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable and Territorial Development), UFIP EM, ATMD (the Association of hauliers of dangerous products), BN Pétrole, Université Gustave Eiffel and CEREMA.
He organised the ‘Rencontres Bitume’, an annual event in Paris that brought together key stakeholders to discuss topics specific to the bitumen industry.
At various times Jean-Michel was the Eurobitume team member on each of Eurobitume’s main special interest member committees (HSE, Technical and PRC). Additionally, for several years he was the contact point for the Safe Handling of Bitumen sub-committee and also was the Publishing Director of Bitume Info, a magazine on the bitumen industry published in partnership with the RGRA.
Before he joined the Eurobitume team, Jean-Michel represented TotalEnergies as a member of Eurobitume’s board of directors and was the association’s treasurer in 2014 and 2015.
