Early positive feedback for Eurobitume’s 10th ‘Open to all’ webinar on Future Bitumen Specifications
Early feedback about Eurobitume’s latest ‘Open to all’ educational webinar, on Future Bitumen Specifications, has been very positive. Attendees described it as “Both comprehensive and easy to follow.” and thanked to Dr. Lancaster for “such clear and robust seminars.”
More than 80 participants joined this session, which marked the 10th external webinar since its launch in 2022. As with previous editions, the webinar was designed to give non‑technical stakeholders a clear, accessible overview of a technical topic that is central to the bitumen industry.
Webinar presenter Dr Ian Lancaster, Eurobitume Technical Lead, outlined Eurobitume’s position on the characteristics and test methods that should underpin future specifications for paving bitumen. The presentation focused on:
- The objectives and guiding principles for future specifications.
- The role of characteristics used in specifications and how a balanced approach can reflect both consistency and performance‑related properties.
- The importance of test methods, including considerations around method precision, repeatability/reproducibility, and practical implementation.
- How ageing and durability considerations inform specification choices and performance expectations.
- Implications for producers, specifiers and procurers, and a high‑level look at potential next steps.
