Eurobitume further strengthens partnership with Asphalt Institute
Following the recent renewal of its partnership agreement with Asphalt Institute, Eurobitume was represented by HSE Lead Dr Anja Sörensen at the Asphalt Institute (AI) Summer Meeting, held in Indianapolis, USA, from 3 to 6 August 2026.
During the meeting, Anja contributed to discussions across several technical, policy and governance groups. She presented Eurobitume’s work and perspectives at the Roofing Technical Advisory Committee, the Public Policy and Relationships Committee and the Executive Committee meetings. She also participated in the AI Foundation Board and AI committee meetings, including the HSE Committee, of which she is an ex officio member.
Eurobitume’s involvement across these groups reflects the increasingly international nature of the issues addressed by both associations. Industry communication, knowledge sharing and technical guidance frequently extend beyond national or regional boundaries, making close cooperation between associations essential.
Safe handling is a particularly important area of collaboration. Eurobitume and AI are working to align their guidance and recommendations wherever appropriate, helping the industry communicate consistent good practices and supporting the development of widely shared standards for the safe handling of bitumen.
The Summer Meeting provided another valuable opportunity to exchange expertise, coordinate ongoing activities, and identify areas where closer transatlantic cooperation can benefit the industry.
